Job Description:

Qualifications: 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Job Responsibilities:

This analyst, as part of a centralized, strategically focused Business Process Improvement team, will:

  • Provide Lean Subject Matter Expertise to leaders and employees across various City and County Agencies.
  • Prepare training curriculum, and coach and mentor Agency employees in Lean methodologies.
  • Support City and County Agency leaders with strategic deployment design and planning.
  • Champion Lean training and facilitation for leaders, black belts, green belts and other City and County employees.
  • Cultivates and fosters a positive working relationship within event teams, and with executives, managers, supervisors, employees and other stakeholders to gain cooperation, support, and buy in to continuous improvement.
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, organize, and facilitate various Lean and kaizen events including, but not limited to training, workshops, rapid improvement events, process mapping, and value stream analysis.
  • Provide successful communication to City and County employees on training opportunities, Lean tools, successful implementation strategies, and other events via written and oral presentations.
  • Assist senior leadership in planning and designing Lean strategies, project selection and prioritization workshops, integrated with Agency strategic objectives while tailored to Division specific needs.
  • Support facilitation of analysis and improvement events. Analysis events are Value Stream Analyses (VSA’s) and improvement events are Rapid Improvement Events (RIE’s).
  • Support tracking innovations and improvements that result from Peak Academy trainees and improvement events.
  • Write reports that summarize findings, describe data collection techniques, and recommend implementation options for management/supervisory approval.
  • Revise procedures, processes, and/or methods to increase effectiveness, test alternatives approaches, assist in the installation of approved improvements/modifications, provide instruction to operating personnel, and perform follow up to ensure defined outcomes are achieved.

Qualifications:

Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Public Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field.

Experience: (Must be displayed in Work History or attached resume)

  • Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in administrative, management, and operational analysis work which must have included analyzing management problems and recommending solutions and implementation strategies.
  • A minimum of one year professional level experience as a Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt facilitating rapid improvement events, value stream analysis, process mapping, project selection workshops, or coaching project teams.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in facilitating continuous improvement activities such as orientation, education, and training based on strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Must be proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Actively participate in product development cycle by reviewing software project documentation, participating in product risk assessments, and working closely with Product Development to develop appropriate verification and validation testing requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally to implement improvements to the software life cycle, including the establishment of risk management as an integral part of the quality management system as an overall framework for the application of appropriate software engineering methods and techniques.
  • Create and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation to support the Quality System in regards to software and system design.
    Identify and implement software process metrics for the software product development life cycle. Develop, analyze and monitor metrics pertaining to software defects uncovered during development, testing and post-release.
  • Recommend and lead corrective and preventive actions to improve software product quality. Ensure documentation and findings are completed on time and in a timely manner in accordance with FDA and European Regulatory agency standards and procedures.
  • Provide solutions to a wide range of difficult challenges. Work independently to determine and develop solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Provide QA oversight to assigned suppliers. Disposition nonconforming product at the Material Review Board meetings. Interface as necessary with suppliers to ensure product specifications are met. Lead supplier audits and assessments.
  • Promote continuous improvement through the use of such tools as Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen.
  • Follow all Quality System Practices as defined by Medtronic Navigation’s practices, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that FDA, ISO and European Medical Device quality standards and regulations are met where applicable.
  • All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Travel requirement: 10-20%

  • B.S./B.A. in Engineering or similar related field

    • 0+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with B.S./B.A
  • Software Quality Engineer
    • 2+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with a B.S./B.A.
    • 0+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with a B.S./B.A
  • Sr. Software Quality Engineer
    • 5+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with B.S./B.A.
    • 3+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with M.S./M.A.
    • 0+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with Ph.D
  • Pr. Software Quality Engineer
    • 7+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with B.S./B.A.
    • 5+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with M.S./M.A.
    • 3+ years of previous experience in an engineering position with Ph.D

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations, Medical Device Directive, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and ISO 62304 standards.
  • Skilled in product risk assessment, requirements management and tracing, defect tracking, configuration management techniques, and how they are applied in the software development lifecycle.
  • Some knowledge in one or more of the following areas: C/C++, Linux/Unix, Java, External Communication (RS-232, TCP/IP, wireless)
  • Formal training in Lean and Six Sigma methods combined with project deployment experience at the green belt or greater level is highly desirable.
